Written backstage in Lake City, MI on June 8, 2003.

I love that this recording has not a single drum on it. Brent and I, in our pre-production planning, were listening to Simon & Garfunkel and realized that, even though we were delightedly tapping our toes, most of the songs we were listening to on this particular record had no drums, but rather odd and varied forms of percussion setting the rhythm. We tried to emulate that here.

Lyrics

You Come Over Me
(Eric Peters)

saving all my love for a rainy day
wondering if you’ll come out to play today
in place of what I feel, can I trust you to be real?
if it’s not today, maybe tomorrow

I thought love was just a secret told too many times
that lost all of its luster on the bitter types
in all that we’ve been through, I know this to be true
ever since you came around I’m not so hollow

you come runnin’, you come runnin’
you come runnin’, you come over me

the first time we ever spoke I’m sure I said too much
that’s the way it always goes when you long to touch
skin that burns like fire and lips that quell the sky
you’re a once in a lifetime love of one-life lovers

you come runnin’, you come runnin’
you come runnin’, you come over me
you come runnin’, you come runnin’
you come runnin’, you come over me
