I Will Go With You

A teaser from my forthcoming album, Chrome, which releases on 8/25/09. But if you’ve been following this blog, then you already knew that. Pre-order yours now here.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

This is a song titled I Will Go With You. I wrote it for my two boys, Ellis and Monroe, but it is, like all the songs I write, intended for a broader audience since, as author Frederick Buechner states, “The story of any one of us is in some measure the story of us all.” It is a reminder to them – to you – that though we, at times, feel alone, we are never fully alone, even in the darkest of nights when all seems lost, and hopeless, and surrounded by abandonment. I believe in the common grace of our lives and in many-more-than second chances. Thank you for your support. Please feel free to spread the word in your (hemi)spheres of influence. I am more than eager for you to hear this record. Coming soon.

Love this song.

I like the Buechner quote. When I first heard that on the CD, it jumped out at me.

Duly teased (and duly impressed). The waiting will now become ever harder now. I’ve listened four times and there’s so much that is notable. But I’ll stifle myself and make only one observation: These lines kick butt.

“We’re a long from tomorrow,
just a breath away from the past
But here we are in the moment,
building a kingdom that’s gonna last.”

EP – remember when I told you that I was excited about how you’d write after having kids? This is what I meant.

What an amazing song – can’t wait for the whole record! And I love Buechner, too.

I remember the first CD of yours that I bought at the Swiftwaters Concert in Maine NINE years ago.I really liked that one.
What I am hearing now is the depth and maturity that comes from an incredible growth since that time. (marriage and children and all that goes with it) I’m looking forward to great blessings when I get to hear the rest of it. God led me rightly!

eric, this song reflects your first-hand (as opposed to second-hand) relationship with Jesus and those He has put in you life

Eric – As you mentioned in an earlier post, the Chrome artwork is really nice. Congrats on an excellent finished product.
