Chrome Release Day & Pre-Orders

8/25/09
.:: Chrome ::.

Whew! At last. Please mark your calendars, Tivos, TV trays, refrigerators, forearms, iPhones, and/or bicycles for August 25, 2009, official release day of Chrome.

Pre-order your copy today in the Goods Section.

From now until 8/25/09, you can get Chrome for $10.00 each, two copies for $15.00, or, if you order in increments of five or more, for just $8.00 each. Also, in my ongoing campaign to occupy the recently vacated Alaskan governorship, I’m offering Chrome + Revenge of the Birds (CD + book) together for $15.00. Your kids will be mesmerized by the mini-epic tale of Geolly Chester and his wily band of outer space bird-battlers, and you, in turn, will have 11 new songs to dive into, surely a win-win situation.

If you are one of my Patron Saints — it’s not too late to join the party, but you need to act fast — you will receive your two signed copies (complete with your name in the liner notes) by/on August 11, 2009, two weeks prior to the official release day. Thank you for believing in me enough to make this album possible!!

Side note: For those who prefer to purchase their music via download (as opposed to buying a physical copy), please allow me to make an artist’s blatant sales pitch: Chrome artwork/graphic design is going to be more than swell, thanks to the diligent, insightful and skilled artisanship of David Van Buskirk. Early on, I cast the overall album concept to David, and he ran to great lengths developing it, turning corners I didn’t expect. The environmentally friendly (a.k.a, “digi pack”) CD packaging further develops and colorfully illuminates the narrative of the songs themselves, precisely to what art and humanity should aspire — tell stories to illuminate the greater Story. I am eager for you to discover the themes in both the music and the accompanying art design, as they are complements to one another. This, I propose, is why you should purchase the physical representation of the album, not a mere download. Instantaneous digital downloads, though I purchase them myself from time to time, are cold, sterile, lifeless, invisible X’s and O’s, lacking a certain heart, or gravitas, and are deficient in spirit. This, of course, is merely my opinion. Either way, I do not yet know when Chrome will be available on iTunes or at other online distributors. Eventually it will make its way to these venues, but not right away.

Leave it to the math nerd (me) to be…well, nerdy…but I had to point out that 2 for $15 is actually a better deal than 5 for $40. I’m just sayin’…

Hey Eric – Some good friends from Kirksville, MO are heading to Centerville, IA to catch your show this Thursday. Centerville is surely not as exciting as Wasilla, but I bet you’re the only Peg to have ever played there either!

P.S. Great review of Chrome by Andy Osenga:

Eric, it was good to see you in Nashville a few weeks back and I am looking forward to the new CD. Just to let you know I used you as the artist for “My Life According To” on facebook. Hopefully people will go, hmmmm, who is Eric Peters and check you out. Much success with Chrome Pappy.

Very sorry to see that the album can only be purchased physically. I’m sure the art design and everything looks fantastic but to be honest, that holds no interest to me.

Having bought almost every album I could find from you on Amazon and iTunes, it is a disappointment that I can not hear Chrome nor can I purchase from anywhere electronically.

A big fan who will just have to wait… please reconsider having a MP3/AAC version somewhere.

desmond:
never say never. CHROME has been submitted to iTunes. could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months to show up there. i’ll try to keep you posted. in the meantime, CHROME is available for purchase in its downloadable form here: https://store.rabbitroom.com/index.aspx#/details/20af6585-4c39-4f4a-906a-b451213d9b83

if anyone notices that CHROME finally peeks its head at iTunes, please let us know.

and i am super-interested in knowing why the physical representation of an album “holds no interest” to you. i would love to be educated here, and to get inside the brain of those music lovers who could care less about having the physical product. please educate me.
